Review of Saw (2004) by Avant G — 27 Jun 2012
It's been a while since I wanted to watch this movie. Usually, I avoid movies that are famous for their sadism, but that idea of this one seemed interesting to me. Jigsaw (the psychopath) arises as a figure that punishes those who, in his point of view, do not value life.
He forces people to make a choice between life and death. But if one desires to live, one is obliged to kill other people, to cut one's own members... So, it's not a simple wake up call, it's a crude, premeditated, sadistic survival game.
John/Jigsaw has an inoperable tumor, so it seems like he is directing his feelings of powerlessness (and consequent anger) towards others who he can control rather than making them think. I am interested in learn more about Jigsaw, but it is uncomfortable to watch another hour of people cutting their own members and so.
I have to say that the end was genius, so I will not spoil it =).
