Review of Saw (2003) by Aj V — 09 Aug 2015
Saw is not as bad as critics say it is, but it is certainly not a complete masterpiece. It's a pretty grisly horror movie, it's vibe is just creepy all around. As not as violent or disturbing as the later ones in the series, this one does have disturbing, stomach turning moments. This horror thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat, filled with suspense. There is puzzles and questions that are never answered until the very end. Just to be clear, this is no slasher. This is not Scream, Halloween, or Texas Chainsaw. Overall, it's pretty freaking creepy. The traps in here are brilliant and creative. The acting in here is the only problem I had, other than how boring it can be at times. This is a horror film that can be remembered and respected as the best horror films of the 2000's.
Grade: B--.
