Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Dominic Martin A — 30 Oct 2013
Hanks once again shines as Capt. John Miller, as he makes his way through the blood-ridden soils of World War II to save Private Ryan. From the get go, the film already shows what it has in store for you with the tense, teeth gritting opening seen at Omaha beach, with bodies being blown up and set aflame in the first 15 minutes.
The film is very well written, paced, acted, and directed. You can see the amount of hard work being put to the movie's detail, with every scene littered with what you would find on a battlefield.
The film also provokes thought, as the scenes of war unfold in front of your eyes.
