Review of Saving Mr. Banks (2013) by Rabih H — 16 Feb 2015
A Disneyfication of the truth, obviously, but a sweet and charming reminder of the positive and cathartic impact iconic entertainment- like Mary Poppins- can have on people's lives. It works through a checklist of emotive cliches, but it's brisk pace and great cast (Schwartzman proving he can work outside the quirky weirdo box) make for a fun and engaging watch, even if it is simply a biased ode to Disney.
