Saving Mr banks tells the story of how Mary Poppins, one of disney's most classic films was created. P.L travers the author of the original book and producer on the film arrives to California for yet another talk with Walt Disney about giving the rights to his film company. Travers is shown here to be frustrating, quick to irritate and overall hard to please. She continuously throughout the film remembers the happy and difficult days of her childhood which was what led to the making of her story. Disney does not give up and makes it his mission to convince travers that her story is in good hands and will be something magical.

For a film about the making of a real life Disney story. it certainly has the feel and wonder of a Disney flick. Emma Thompson was terrific in this role. hwoever my goodness P.L Travers was quite reserved and really didn't want the help of anyone. she seemed to hate everything except her work. I probably woulda quit if I was working with her so my hats off to her collaborators including mr Disney for sticking with her. She was a really complex women so on the otherhand you did sort of feel for her. Colin Farrell gives such a vibrant and wonderous performance as travers father He was trying to instill upon his girls a reality full of great imagination to stray them away from the real reality he was facing. It was quite refreshing to see from an actor who plays pretty intense roles at times. tom hanks was very good as walt Disney. I always knew that if anyone could play Disney himself it would be tom hanks since he knows how to cater to kids and bring that sense of joy that kids could love.

I must admit I've never seen mary poppins but it was still pretty cool seeing a film about an adaptation of a famous book. I think this is a good example of how some adaptation process go. sometimes the creators of a book or people who lived it are either flattered, suprised and or excited to see their story come to life on screen while others either hate it or find it difficult to see it unfold on the big screen. Very good directing and good editing as well in this movie.

I was pretty impressed with this story. I really enjoyed it.
