Review of Savages (2012) by Justin E — 13 Jan 2013

Beautifully shot landscapes with overly stylized violent sequences but somewhat dull and wooden performances from most of the cast in this drug enhanced revenge thriller. The story is somewhat believable and the actors seem to pull it off except give us no one to root for that were actually supposed to except maybe the villainous cartel hitman played amazingly as always by Benico Del Toro.

As nicely shot as this film is I found myself bored halfway through with not much interest in the outcome of any of the characters. Honorable mention for John Travolta who shows up as a hammy CIA agent, which is one of his best performances in years.
