Review of Savages (2012) by Marischa B — 20 Jan 2013
What a pleasant surprise this was! It may not be particularly deep but Oliver Stone has cobbled together one hell of an entertaining flick that plays like one very glossy, pulpy thriller.
The film loses some points for its trick ending that tries to have its cake and eat it too, but everything leading up to that is solid with perfectly leveled tension, beautiful cinematography, and a very fun performance from Salma Hayek. Definitely an underseen piece of work.
