Review of Savages (2012) by Jack M — 08 Jan 2013
This is a pretty good movie for its genre, but it is no Natural Born Killers; an advertising ploy I read before its premier. Regardless, I still like the movie for its dialogue, bright and bold colors and photography.
As for the acting, Benicio definitely steals the show from the leads... he plays a terrificly frightening bad guy. I am partial to Selma because I've liked all her films. I thought Kitsch and Johnson did well, too, with the help of Lively, as the good "bad" guys.
So, if you like Stones bold and limitless filmmaking, and all-around action/violent films, you'll like this one quite a bit. I got to see it on the big screen, which was awesome, but the blu-ray version on my big tv w/ surround sound is just as cool, minus the $8 popcorn.
