Review of Savage Grace (2007) by David L — 13 Aug 2007
(Contains spoliers!).
Nothing like a bit of incest to cheer up your Sunday afternoon. The acting is superb and the cinematography is wonderful. The film itself however, relies too heavily on the fact it was a real-life story. As a viewer who's never heard of the real-life murder case, I felt something missing from the character development... or maybe it's in a cutting room floor somewhere. The first you notice that the main protagonist's grip on reality is slipping is about 30 sec before he stabs his mother... a wee bit unexpected and rushed. Worth watching for Julianne Moore though.
