Review of Savage Grace (2007) by Sv G — 23 Mar 2009
How do you take a tawdry true story and turn it into an artful film? The makers of Savage Grace don't really know- Narratively the film never really rises above the this happened and then this happened hook of most true stories or biopics.
But fortunately Julianne Moore knows exactly what she's doing and turns her Barbara into a quiet (and sometimes not so quiet) volcano of rage. Her character rages at her abandonment and resents the boredom of her privledged existence- Turning Grace into a high wire soap opera.
