Review of Sausage Party (2016) by Jamie J — 10 Jan 2017
Sausage Party is a film that trades itself almost, no entirely on its premise. Which is consumables saying shit and fuck every thirty seconds, and the occasional dick and fart joke. So far so standard for a Seth Rogen movie then.
It's hard not to feel a touch disappointed with it however, I really like the concept, but it's hard to escape the feeling that this is just 90 minutes of Seth Rogen's animated wank fantasy. There are some downright brilliant jokes however, the used condom and toilet roll being particular highlights, and spoilers withheld the story really does go off the deep end towards the finale in a good and surprisingly clever way.
Sausage Party overall is rude, crude and fairly entertaining, a better fit for Rogen and friends than that piece of shit movie The Interview, but doesn't even come close to less crass comedies or animated classics. A nice little curiosity if nothing else.
