Review of Sausage Party (2016) by Fantasy F — 11 Aug 2018
Sausage Party thinks it has it all figured out, and its going to get down to earth with some chilled Hollywood celebrities to show you the light! You can tell this movie was trying really hard to be "with it", while it delivered one of its quick-fire punchlines straight to your facebook posts, but its non stop attempts to appear laid-back just make it feel unnatural, and cringey.
The "meta" narrative of this film is clearly intended to be communicated under the guise of a "chilled" animation, but ends up being overly self-important and naive; and quite frankly shoved down your throat.
It wasn't boring to watch, but it definitely didn't make me go "Whooa bro!".
