Review of Saturday Night Fever (1977) by Rob B — 31 Dec 2013
You can pretty much see where paul thomas anderson got his inspiration for boogie nights when you watch this movie. it's a gritty portrayal of an urban youth who likes to dance his troubles away. it's what he's good at.
mixed in with the disco crap (which was tolerable when you give into the excellent soundtrack and character development) is a piece of melodrama concerning the going nowhere lives of not only tony himself, but also that of his friends.
it's all very compelling stuff with great acting, story and a simple message of doing what you feel is right for yourself. despite what others think.
