Review of Sarah's Key (2010) by Bill K — 22 Dec 2011
My heart sank and ached as the tragic story unfolded. But Sarah's Key was more than just a touching movie about Holocaust (it did take me a while to fully appreciate the messages behind the movie).
It's about how the French face/avoid its not-so-graceful pages of their nation's history, and it also shows, in fact, how commonly people use avoidance as a way to cope with shame and difficulties.
The ending led the audience to contemplation: will being honest to ourselves be the better way out?
