Review of Sarah's Key (2010) by Ana B — 13 Jan 2013
A dual-story film, and for me it was the 1942 tale that stood up better to 2010.
This deals with the darkest hour for Vichy France in WWII, and leads to an old-fashioned war adventure that pulls at the heart strings. The horrors of the Velodrome are recreated in detail, and the subsequent escape and reinvention is so much better than the likes of The War Horse.
In comparison the modern-day Brooklyn/Paris tale is very soapy, and just doesn't work as well. This is despite Scott Thomas who is excellent (she always is).
