Review of Sarah's Key (2010) by Sarah . — 21 Jul 2012
I found this movie quite interesting and overall, it was very well acted. The story, though ripe with elements we've seen before in many a WWII movie, had some unique aspects which made it compelling to watch. My only real complaints are as follows. 1. The score was too loud at times (drowned out the dialog). 2. Some characters reactions/behaviour was a little ridiculous. 3. The subtitles were wrong at times (and I was watching a legitimate copy).
The movie flips between present day and the past, and I personally didn't care that much for the present day aspect and would have enjoyed the story just as much had it only been the story set in the past.
But yes, all in all, it was fine. Though not anything exceptional.
What did this movie teach me? If something smells funky...don't ignore it.
