Review of Saraband (2003) by Ben W — 21 Feb 2008
After about 30 yrs we get something of a follow up on johan and marianne from bergman. scenes from a marriage being a superior film, this still has all the brutal truth and utter lack of any sentiment that we come to expect.
its a film about old age and those ever burning even until the last days of ones life relationship problems. time doesnt heal all wounds, but perhaps its not intended to and perhaps there is a way to move past that.
and while the film is well shot it very obviously lacks that nykvist touch.
