Review of Sans Soleil (1983) by Lauren T — 02 Jul 2008
The monograph accompanying the footage in this film, alternatively Borges, Greenaway, and Herzog, is full to bursting with astonishing revelations and observations reached after hours of hard thought had been condensed into a single obscure paragraph.
Ultimately it doesn't work; it is a collection of abstract conclusions and unrelated footage forced together into a movie. But they are occasionally beautiful conclusions and interesting footage, and so it is often fascinating.
