Review of Sandy Wexler (2017) by Ihateeverymovie — 22 Apr 2017
Boy does this movie drag on. The movie was taking forever and when my friends and I checked the time, we were only an hour and ten minutes in with an hour left to go.
Basically, Adam Sandler plays Sandy Wexler, an awkward, nerdy wannabe Hollywood manager in the 1990's who constantly makes up stories about meeting and helping celebrities out. He finally strikes gold when he sees a great singer at a petting zoo and she becomes hugely successful but eventually they have to split up because, while Sandy did discover her, afterwards he doesn't help much because his methods are not good or are hopelessly dated.
Much of the humour is supposed to be derived from Sandy Wexler's habitual lying yet he does it in such an awkward and somehow charming way that people find it endearing and let him get away with it. It's just most of the movie is only that and there's two hours of it. Also, be ready for another movie where Adam Sandler uses one of his "funny" voices. Also, all his friends are in it too.
