Review of Sanctum (2011) by Michael V — 09 Nov 2011
Wow. I really had hopes for this. What a piece of shit. There is no plot what so ever. At no point did I feel compassion nor connection to any of the characters. Those who died and those who survived. At no point did I identified myself with the plot, hoping these guys will make it out alive.
The dialog is just as boring as the plot and the actors do a well enough job with the crap they were handed. The set design was well done and the camera work did a great job capturing it all. Then Cameron was one of 9 producers so don't get excited that his name is on it.
And the whole based on a true story element is taken very very very loosely. What the true story and this have in common is people trapped inside a deep underwater cave. The real story had no deaths and a rescue party.
What a fucking let down. But hey that one scene where Ioan Gruffudd did the base jump. Apparently that was really him doing that. So way to go. But next time do life risking stunts on movies that are worth it.
