There would only be 2 reasons to see this movie. One, if you are a fan of Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Two, if you like dumb disaster movies. There have been better disaster movies that have been made before this one. The problem with this movie is the story is not believable and the Earthquake calamity is just as unbelievable.

The movie is just one big Hollywood cliche centered around 2 people trying to resolve their own problems which, in the grand scheme, is small compared to--a devastating earthquake?! Beneath the rubble of this awful movie is a story about divorce. I guess you can say the movie is really a 2 hour metaphor for divorce. Divorce is like an earthquake. It'll uproot you and rock your world, your spouse, and your children.

What makes divorce so devastating? It's the separation. The feeling of no longer being in control of things. Everywhere you look, it seems there is one more sad song or falling building around the corner. On the flip side, there are chances of rectifying things before things go into splitsville. I think The Rock represents one of the spouses who still cling on while the other one has already moved on. Relationships are always uneven like that for some reason. Anyway, he swoops in and saves her and in effect saves the marriage. Throughout the movie the rekindled couple ventures through all the damage (still on the divorce metaphor). They go against the crowd, they cut against the grain and actually find new avenues to get past the things that would damage most other people. They communicate, they share their feelings, they even jump out a plane together. Want to know how to make someone care about you real quick? Yeah, you jump, I jump. In the end, San Andreas is in complete ruin.

But the main characters marriage has been saved. And.they.live.happily.ever.after.
