Review of Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto (1954) by Kenneth S — 31 Mar 2016
The first chapter in Hiroshi Inagaki's SAMURAI Trilogy is nothing short of spectacular. Toshiro Mifune gives another stellar performance as the title character. Based on a novel that has been called Japan's GONE WITH THE WIND, the trilogy follows one man's journey from lowly swordsman to great samurai.
In this first chapter, Takezo (Mifune), returns home from a war only to be turned away by his home town. Through the help of a priest and a pesant girl, Takezo begins his journey to becoming a great samurai, Musashi Miyamoto.
A wonderful film experience.
