Review of Sam's Song (1969) by Chris W — 26 Mar 2008
This film (originally started in 1969, but finished and released in 1980) is quite lousy. It's a prime example of amateur film making that should never have seen the light of day. The film has aged horribly, is incredibaly dated looking, and the story is totally cliched, unoriginal, and actually put me to sleep.
The acting isn't much better. Even De Niro's small role (that's right, his role is a supporting role, despite receiving the major credits) is mediocre at best. I only know about this film because it cost $1 and came as a double feature with a low-budget Pesci film.
Avoid it. That's the bottom line. It's really not worth your time.
