Review of Samba (2014) by Tiago C — 28 Mar 2015
Éric Toledano bet again in a film that deals with racism, immigration and relationship between totally different cultures. A formula that worked in Intouchables and won recognition from the general public.
However, despite having a different history, appears to be a Samba Intouchables repetition. The way the plot occurs, the issues addressed and actions are very similar to the previous work of Toledano.
Therefore, the film piece in the absence of originality and ambition. Toledano managed to expand his ways with Intouchables, but if he keeps going in circles may be unable to break new horizons and evolve as a director.
An average film.
