Review of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2012) by Nathan M — 11 Aug 2012
Nothing more than a prim and witty British melodrama, whose sharpness appeals to the white collared shirts of the global north. It helps that McGregor, Blunt, and Waked are all intensely likable at the helm of this light, enchanting film.
Unfortunately, it veers into syrupy romance territory with how thick the melodrama becomes in the second half of the film. Overall, itâ(TM)s a trifle.
