Review of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2012) by David Ray G — 01 Sep 2012
Lasse Hallstrom's career has been characterized by ups and downs, and this is more of a down. I love the cast, but the film is cheesy, pointless, unromantic and unfunny. The story was there, but it was so badly delivered.
The performances were a bit over-the-top and the characters were not fully developed. The film felt overall confused. Felt as though the makers rushed to put it out to theaters without having quite finished it.
McGregor is always a joy to watch of course - just wish he had read the script better.
