After its Best Picture Golden Globe nomination, I knew I had to see this little-known pic by CBS Films, but afterwards I'm only left wondering why. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen feels like an ABC Family Original Movie, complete with a dull, overly sentimental screenplay and talented cast with nothing to do. It wrings its weak story into a nearly two-hour bore and both the score and editing move the tone from bizarrely quirky to depressing in no time flat.
If you have two hours to kill, its better spent on Netlfix reruns of Breaking Bad.
