Review of Salma (2014) by Prosmooth — 10 Jan 2015
The movie didn't do a good enough job of explaining the pressure LBJ was under at the time, and the reason he was dragging his feet on civil rights. Politics is slow and hard--especially when you are fighting long held entrenchments and trying to get equally important things passed as well.
The film almost seems to want to make LBJ the bad guy--which is ridiculous. Other than that, I would have given it a 10--but I HATE revisionist history. LBJ wasn't perfect--god knows--but he wasn't the almost monster this movie makes him out to be either.
I'm not recommending Selma because of this--sad to say. I give it a 1.
