Review of Salma (2014) by Googolendtimes — 14 Mar 2015
Melodramatic and overdone in parts but passionate and compelling as a whole, "Selma" is primarily a showcase for a mesmeric tour de force by David Oyelowo, who absolutely rivets as Martin Luther King.
It's one of the most forceful embodiments of a real-life figure, and echoes Denzel Washington's electrifying presence in "Malcolm X". Oyelowo is reinforced by a stellar albeit underused supporting cast of whom Carmen Ejogo particularly stands out as King's wife Coretta.
