Review of Salesman (1969) by Susan K — 20 Sep 2008
There are always many skeptics with narrative and of course documentary in showing truth, and how real it is. Of course there is always compromise in the picture business, but here I really felt there wasn't much. This did not feel contrived at all, and it really leaves the viewer with a hard choice. Who to side with?
It was very hard to get thorough this for the most part. Most anybody can say they do not like to be badgered by a salesmen, but it was interesting to see how different people dealt with it, along with seeing the human side of the salesman. You have a salesman who needs to sell to make a living , but you have their customers who can't even afford a dollar a week. Even for the good, this is a difficult watch, still, watch it!
