Review of Sakuran (2006) by Stefan R — 06 Sep 2007
Sakuran is a wonderful pop ballad about ancient japan done in modern mtv-like visuals. The japanese "La Chapelle" Mika Ninagawa created this aesthetic fairytale and breaks traditional rules in japanese film culture.
While the story could have more twists'n turns the cast fits nicely into the modern visual style and the 111 minutes pass away fast. Kudos for the soundtrack.
