Review of Saints and Soldiers (2003) by Noel K — 04 Oct 2009
Set against the back drop of real events during WWII (Battle of The Bulge), four allied soldiers trapped behind enemy lines, navigate through hostile enemy territory in order to deliver vital military intelligence.
Director Ryan Little moves the story along, revealing a little bit of each character as they face the many obstacles including a harrowing, thrilling, climatic mad dash (last 30 minutes) to friendly confines.
The unknown cast consisting of Alexander Polinsky, Corbin Allred, Kirby Heybourne, Lawrence Bagby and Peter Holden give a great performance. This is a great example of how an indie film should be made.
The story is simple and the production values are excellent.
