Review of Saint (1997) by Parker L — 09 Jul 2008
As always, I want to give this film a decent rating because it made me laugh so much. Unfortunately, its purpose was not to make the audience laugh, so therefore, it fails.
First things first: This script was abysmal. Honestly, I couldn't believe some of the lines that were written in. The character development was okay for Templar, but terrible for Russel. Not to mention that Shue was tough to watch on-screen. The direction was nothing to write home about, the performances were weak, and there were the little things that bugged me, i.e. all the russians speaking english.
Only reason this film struggled its way up to 2 stars was because of the complete insanity of Val Kilmer. Some of the characters he played in this were so over-the-top, making for some side-splitting scenes. But really though, a pretty pitiful effort.
