Review of Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) by Joey S — 14 Feb 2013
Safety Not Guaranteed is a fun deadpan comedy full of charm and imagination with a deceptively simple but enthralling plot. It has less science fiction than its premise would suggest, but it's funny in a very subtle way and incredibly enjoyable as a low-budget indie comedy.
Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass are both fantastic as the two protagonists, and their performances are what make the movie great. The ending is absolutely perfect, and I genuinely thought the movie was going to go in a completely different direction.
It's not a masterpiece by any means, but Safety Not Guaranteed makes for a very memorable and very quirky good time.
