Time-travel aspects all throughout the movie. The time traveler desires to return to the past, so he can find love. The love interest wants to go back to the last time she was happy. Through the movie, they both actually accomplish this without any actual time travel.
The handsome-jerk journalist, travels back in time by meeting his last love from his late teens, and by advising his "younger self" ( the indian intern".
