Review of Safe (1995) by Gregory W — 25 Jan 2010
Julianne Moore is excellent in Todd Haynes' attack on society which leaves a lot for the viewer to digest, as a normal housewife becomes ill with the doctors unable to figure out what's wrong with her.
Haynes' camera may linger a little too long for some audiences, but this is still a fascinating character study which offers us more questions than answers, with the major question being: Can anyone feel 'safe' in the society we've created for ourselves?
