Review of Sadgati (1981) by William B — 09 Jan 2010
100% of brilliance from the cast, beautiful scenary together with a great storyline a message makes Deliverance a masterpiece of film.
4 friends go to a river to have one last canoe trip on it, before it is drained to make a dam, and they get more than they bargained for.
While there having fun and enjoying the last of the Cahulawasse, a couple of mountain men are hunting them down.
After a brutal raping of Bobby (Ned Beatty) and the killing of the of the raper by Lewis (Burt Reynolds) everything starts to go to shit for them.
At no point in this film was I bored or knowing exactly what was going to happen next, it keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Fantasic performances from all the cast from the cigar chomping Lewis to the suicidal, guitar playing Drew.
And from the chubby Bobby to the Ramboish Ed.
This is one of the definitive films of the 70's.
5/5.
