Review of Sadako vs. Kayako (2016) by Paul T — 07 Jul 2016
While the film has some nice nostalgic scares in the early acts, the film largely fails to match the terrors of the two films this cross over was originally based upon. What the third act lacks in pay off it makes up for in cheesy non-sense.
Human characters never acknowledge things like: "this plan is stupid" "oh boy did this backfire!" "I don't think Afro-guy though this through...".
Then you get the big Lovecraftian-monster-flesh-ball-thing at the end, a big fat post-it from the filmmakers: "dear audience... we've have run out of ideas, so we did this... enjoy...".
The build up is creepy, but the end is a laugh! ^^.
Would recomend.
