Review of Saboteur (1942) by Paul C — 21 Apr 2009
Ripping Wrong Man-type thriller with some truly brilliant moments - if you want to see an example of early(ish) Hitchcock at his entertaining best check this one out.The story is flimsy but visually this is stunning throughout especially when you consider that everything more or less had to be constructed from scratch because of WWII shortages. The opening sequence in particular needs to be seen by cinema fans - one of the most striking first 5 minutes to a film I have seen in a long while.
My own favourite scene - the old couple stopping to 'help' a distressed priscilla lane...
