Review of Sabotage (2014) by Ding C — 02 Apr 2014
You come to watch a movie with very little expectations because it's an Arnold Schwarzenegger film and it turned out that it wasn't so bad. This could be one of his rare films that present real characters in real situations though still by and large a little beyond normal for an average person, at its core it is still as universal as love and revenge.
This film had a strong potential to be great what with its potentially strong cast of supports and what appears to be the topic of this film on the surface. Sadly, this film decided to take a different direction. It limited its actors to play for machismo instead of depth, its topic was watered down by the shady characters with twisted intentions.
What this film lacked in genuine goodness, it made up for its suspense and mystery. A lot of gore, a lot of blood even in the local censored version makes this film gritty and gripping. Olivia Williams shines here as the unwilling witness to the story's unfolding.
