Review of Sabotage (2014) by Myles J — 12 May 2014
Well to begin, the film is a better approach to film making since Arnie's return to the big screen.
Sabotage is fun, gun-ho and a decent crime caper. There is a whole load of shoot em up moments and some tense gun fights to keep the audience entertained.
Schwarzenegger is still his cigar smoking self but shall we say, slow, lethargic (probably trying not to damage a hip) but enjoys to quip some decent one liners which we know and love. For me there are only three people in this that stood out. The first being Olivia Williams, the second Mireille Enos and the third being Harold Perrineau Jnr. Both Williams and Enos are rough and tumble characters which are sometimes extremely gritty roles which do stand out shoulders above the rest. Perrineau Jnr is really funny and does play the alter-ego of Williams' character. Sam Worthington (who is most likely having a break from James Cameron's rules and regulations) is just angry muscle with the most stupid beard appendage which I desperately wanted to cut off with a scissors. I don't remember anything of his character because that annoyed me so much. Terrence Howard has little screen time alongside the likes of Josh Holloway to justify a decent attempt at acting in this film.
The film as a whole is fun and loud popcorn viewing but is flawed particularly in plot. Still a decent Sunday evening watch!
