Review of Sabotage (2014) by Brett H — 13 Jul 2014
Messy (literally and figuratively) "action film" that gives us Arnie's darkest performance in his career, and not much else. I wanted to like this so badly, but it is written by the piss-stain of Hollywood screenwriters, Skip Woods, who couldn't write a coherent plot to save his life.
There is not one likable character in this trash and Arnie's supposed "team" are just a group of trigger-happy assholes who talk to each other like they have a permanent residence at truck-stops.
I don't mind a silly action film, but David Ayer takes everything so seriously it kills the fun you could possibly have. There's a shocking amount of harsh violence that became gratuitous by the 3rd act and when the reveal of the villain (which you see a mile away) happens, I checked out completely.
I commend Arnie for trying something a little different, but the crap script and ugly execution make it impossible to enjoy this.
