Review of Sabotage (2014) by Rob P — 06 Sep 2014

I guess this was an actual movie that came out earlier this year ... I had no idea. In Sabotage, Arnold Schwarzenegger leads a DEA task force that infiltrates deadly and dangerous drug cartels. They are based in Atlanta but they have made enemies south of the border as it is quickly revealed that Breacher's (Schwarzenegger) family was abducted and killed by them in the recent past and Breacher's squad is now closing in on taking a branch of that cartel down.

In taking the wing of the cartel down, they also plan on skimming $10 million or so for themselves before the DEA/government can find out about it. Only ... once the money is taken it is as quickly stolen from them making them all suspect one another.

When you live a life full of secrets, can you ever really trust anybody else? Sam Worthington (Avatar), Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow), Mierelle Enos (World War Z), Josh Holloway ('Lost') and Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) play members of the squad and Olivia Williams (Rushmore) plays another Fed investigating the whole lot of them.

The film is more of a drug cartel drama than it is an all-out action flick although it does try to insert one (preposterously bad) car chase near the end of it to liven it up and give it a pulse. The characters aren't ones to root for .

.. so this film is difficult to like. They've sabotaged themselves by making us not care for any of them ... at all.
