Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by Debbie E — 11 Oct 2012
A great gem of a film that performed extremely well on the festival circuit and no doubt grab lead Marion Cottilard another lead actress nomination come this years Academy awards. The central focus is that of the relationship that forms between her and a drifter who has very recently reconnected with his sister and the 5 year old son he didnt realize he had with no prospects, and how after a near fatal accident at work which costs Marion both of her legs below the knees, their relationship essential heals each other and helps them to move forward in a positive way.
Very pure without being very showy and intimate at the same time, and the subtly of the cgi work to remove Marions legs below the knees was done extremely convincingly. A solid character piece that will be no doubt talked about for a while to come.
