Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by Piers C — 28 Oct 2013
The direction is what kept me interested. It's really a dumb story, and completely unbelievable. Ari acts like a mindless animal throughout the picture. Why would he suddenly show feelings for Steph and his son at the end of the picture? It doesn't make sense.
However, the director took this dull, unrealistic story and really made it as interesting as anyone could. Admired many of his choices. Marion Cotillard is the best actress out there. Kind of wish that she would make movie where she'd keep her clothes on though -- just for a change.
