Thank God my friend lent me the DVD, and I have the opportunity to watch on my TV ! What an eyegasm it was ! If not for the cinematography, it would get a 6, but the whole continous long shot, the arrival of Persian ambassador, the ballroom scene, and that last shot along the staircase of the Hermitage boost the rating.
As for the story, it was pretty abstract, but what I got that our narrator, a 'ghost', travelling along Hermitage while showcasing us the history of Russia in a glimpse. You can see historical figure such as Catherine the Great, Anastasya, etc.
The whole paintings, sculptures, and all items inside the Hermitage also become media for the 'lesson' you're going to learn.
