Review of Russian Ark (2002) by Denise H — 04 Nov 2010
The opulence of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and countless costumed participants is wonderful to behold but I didn't quite "get" this movie. Perhaps it was because it was translated from Russian, or the fact that much of the dialogue was mumbled.
Particularly eerie was the scene of the Romanov family at tea...including Anastasia. A royal family at peace before the murderous days of 1918 and the Bolshevik Revolution.
