Review of Rushmore (1998) by Imus I — 26 Jul 2010
An adorable film. In spite of all the weirdness and the quirkiness that Wes Anderson brings into his films, I can really feel the warmth underneath, probably coming from his love of films and love of people in general.
I think Schwartsman's character is very interesting. He is actually quite intelligent in ordinary ways, although this kind of character is often only intelligent in extremely strange ways. Murray's and William's characters are somewhat more conventional however very likable.
This weird mixture of sanity and insanity, conventionality and unconventionality make this film something quite unique.
