I keep reading the word "off-kilter" applied to this film. If you are watching a Wes Anderson film, you should expect nothing but. Anderson is the king of quirk, and he is at the top of his game with this film.
Think everything good about Napoleon Dynamite and give it a touch of Salinger, and you'll get "Rushmore." In my book, it goes without saying that this is one of Anderson's "big three" (along with "The Royal Tenenbaums" and the very recent "Moonrise Kingdom").
As in his finest work, Anderson seamlessly weaves offbeat comedy with poignancy to create a very unique work.
