Review of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage (2010) by Gabriel H — 23 Apr 2011
For me, being a HUGE Rush fan for nearly 30 years, this was one of the most anticipated 'rockumentaries' to see the light, ever, and boy was I not dissapointed! It had everything a Rush fan could ask for, an in depth study of the band from birth, to present day, and all the pitfalls and triumphs along the way. Lots of rare footage, and it explored the personalities of each member. I've always wanted to see more of their side of the story and not just the adulations of obsessive fans, and this film brings an honesty that no other has. An interesting and brilliantly put together film, showing the real human and geniune side of the three that make Rush a whole. A truly inspirational band, and even if you're not a fan of Rush, it still contains, at the heart of it, a story a lot of people can relate to. These are are just three very down to earth guys, who, with perseverance and determination, did things their way, against all the odds, and came out as possibly the biggest cult band in the world.
Very informative and entertaining, if you have any interest in Rush, or just wonder what they're all about, then this is a fitting tribute to a very unique band..
